Pheasants and partridges:Galliformes- Phasianidae

The Phasianidae are a family of terrestrial birds that comprises quails, partridges, snowcocks, francolins, spurfowl, tragopans, monals, pheasants, peafowls, and jungle fowls. About 46 species occur in India.

Once commonly seen here, the numbers have declined over the years. This bird is a solitary one, I snapped it in Torna Mt Abu in March 2010.
