Birding in The Abode of Gods August 2018.
Birds of August 2018. Mt Abu.
August is the month of average to heavy rainfall. This year the rain gods did not smile down on its abode, guess they were too busy monitoring the rest of the country where sinners needed the much-awaited cleansing and cleansing in some parts of the country was done in extreme measures, so much for the rain gods, back to our birding in August in our hills.
The Green Munia, or Green Avadavat, fondly called the Haria here in Rajasthan, is the much-sought bird by birders worldwide. If one does not have one in one's collection, Mount Abu is the ideal place to be in August to bag this prized bird for one's collection. We see these beauties all over Abu during the month of August in large numbers.
These are the few birds that I recorded in the month of August 2018. They are Baya Weaver, Black Lored tit, Common Myna, Crested Bunting, Green Avadavat, House sparrow, Indian Robin, Indian Silverbill, Jacobin Cuckoo, Oriental Magpie Robin, Red-vented Bulbul, Red-wattled Lapwing, Rose-ringed parakeet, Rufous creepy, White Throated Kingfisher, White-spotted fantail, and the Yellow-eyed Babbler.
