Birding in Mount Abu Sanctuary first week of Feb 2022.

Today I’m posting some pictures taken of our winter migrants at our few meagre water bodies around Mount Abu. These are our regular visitors Gadwall, Green-winged. Teal, Northern Pintail, Tufted Duck, Common Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Eurasian Coot, Eurasian Moorhen. These draw raptors like the buzzards, Black Eagle, Steppe Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon.

Migratory birds in December 2020 Mount Abu mountabubirds.blogspot.com.

A visit to (Duck Pond) a mini Bharatpur in Mount Abu.

Let me take you on a brief trip, to a favourite haunt of mine which I have nicknamed "The Duck Pond" It's a small water body near the Mahadeva Temple before Achalgarh.

It's an exceptional place where many migratory birds come to spend their winter. Where I'm concerned, it's a mini Bharatpur in Abu hope it stays THE WAY IT IS IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Every winter it houses many migratory bird-like Common Pochard, Eurasian Coot, Eurasian Moorhen, Gadwall, Green-winged teal, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Common Sandpiper, Common Snipe, a few varieties of sandpipers, wagtails and cormorants. Appreciate my coverage of this unique place.

Revisited the site to photograph the Eurasian Moorhen chicks, a rare treat for an Abuite. This is a lifer for me to record a few of these chicks. Here in Abu.
