Birds of Mount Abu July 2021 mountabubirds.blogspot.com.

Birds snapped last week of July 2021.

Posting some snaps taken from 18 July to the end of July 2021. From the sweltering heat of Abu Road, last week to overcast skies in Abu birding has had its own charm. It’s the time of the Munias, Oriental Honey-buzzard, Scaly-breasted Munia, Green Munia, Indian Silverbill, Oriental Honey-buzzard, Peregrine Falcon (Shaheen), Indian Yellow Tit, also the Pied Cuckoo and the Indian Blackbird are seen in Abu. Appreciate the collection and my observation of Mount Abu’s feathered friends.

Green Avadavat - Sporaeginthus formosus

People locally know the Green Avadavat as "Haria" and also call it the Green Munia. The IUCH has classified this species as VULNERABLE. This petite bird with red eyes, a red beak green and yellow barred flanks of white and black make it a target for poachers.
The Green Avadavat (Munia)is the official mascot of Rajasthan's Mount Abu Sanctuary. To Southern Rajasthan, Central U.P, M.P, this bird is endemic, and some parts of Bihar and West Bengal. Today, people can easily spot this bird in Mount Abu, and birders from all over the world visit this place to capture images of this rare species.

Birds of Mount Abu Birds in [ September 2019 ] mountabubirds.blogspot.com

Birding in September 2019. Mount Abu.

I look forward to September because it's when the birds return after the monsoon season. The alpine swift barn swallow, Eurasian hobby, Harriers and a host of other raptors. I look forward to seeing the warblers and flycatchers. The greenish warbler is usually the first to make its appearance here in Abu. I was lucky to spot these species by the third week of September: Alpine Swift, Pied Cuckoo, Common Hawk-Cuckoo, Eurasian Marsh-Harrier, Pallid Harrier, Greenish Warbler, Gray Wagtail, and Barn Swallows (a new one for me!).
