Birds in the first week of August 2020. Mt Abu

Blyth's Reed Warbler
(Passage migrant )

The month of July had its shares of overcast skies. Had a few showers at intervals but not much rain, only 6 inches. The first 2 weeks of August have been dull with overcast skies and misty conditions. There were quite a few heavy showers the much need rainfall to fill our reservoirs and our lake. Hopefully, by the end of the month, we receive this much-needed quota to tide us over till our next monsoon. I recorded our local bird and was lucky to record the: “Osprey” a rare visitor to our part of the world. This is a lifer for me and probably the first recorded observation of Mount Abu. I recorded another species, also a LIFER for me, the “Paddyfield Warbler” the first record for this species in Mount Abu. Other birds recorded by me in the first 2 weeks of August are Indian Yellow Tit, Pied Cuckoo, Green Avadavat, Spot-breasted Fantail, Brahminy Starling, White-breasted Waterhen, Indian Robin, Indian Silverbill, Common Hawk Cuckoo, Oriental Magpie Robin, Red-vented Bulbul, Sykes’s Warbler and Blyth’s Reed Warbler.
