Birds of Mount Abu in the second week of January 2023.
I have been promoting bird watching and encouraging the younger generation to participate and document the birds they see around Abu. With the help of smartphones and apps like eBird, it's easier than ever to contribute to birding databases and help build a record of the bird species in the area for those who are not familiar with eBird, it is a free online platform that allows birders to record their sightings and contribute to a global database of bird observations. They used the data collected through eBird for scientific research, and conservation efforts, and to better understand bird populations and their migration patterns.
By creating an eBird account, you can contribute your own observations of birds and access a wealth of information on bird species and birding hotspots around the world. It's a great way to connect with a global community of birders and learn more about the birds in your area.
I would also recommend downloading the eBird app, which makes it easy to record and submit your observations on the go. With more people contributing to eBird, we can gain a better understanding of the bird populations in Abu and help protect these precious species for future generations.
I photographed birds during the Second week of January 2023.
During the winter, migrants include Green-winged Teal, Common Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Bonelli’s Eagle, Common Buzzard, Long-Legged Buzzard, Red-breasted Flycatcher among other birds seen here. I would like to share my collection of birds that I have captured during this period. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my photography skills, please do let me know.

On January 10, 2023, my friend Mohan and I visited the Abu duck pond, a small water body on the way to Achalgarh. During our visit, we were delighted to observe around 150 water birds, which included some of our favourite winter water ducks. However, we couldn't help but notice that the numbers of these ducks have reduced over the years.
Among the ducks we observed, there were Common Pochard, Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, Northern Pintail, and Tufted Duck.
