Birds of mount Abu August 2018 mountabubirds.blogspot.com

Birding in The Abode of Gods August 2018.

Birds of August 2018. Mt Abu.

August is the month of average to heavy rainfall. This year, the rain gods did not bless our abode with their presence, as they were busy monitoring the rest of the country where sinners needed their much-awaited cleansing. In some parts of the country, cleansing was carried out in extreme measures. So much for the rain gods, let's get back to our birding in August in our hills.
The Green Munia, or Green Avadavat, fondly called the Haria here in Rajasthan, is the much-sought bird by birders worldwide. August is the best time to visit Mount Abu and add this coveted bird to your collection if you don't already have one. We see these beauties all over Abu in August in large numbers.
These are the few birds that I recorded in  August 2018. They are Baya Weaver, Black Lored tit, Common Myna, Crested Bunting, Green Avadavat, House sparrow, Indian Robin, Indian Silverbill, Jacobin Cuckoo, Oriental Magpie Robin, Red-vented Bulbul, Red-wattled Lapwing, Rose-ringed parakeet, Rufous creepy, White Throated Kingfisher, White-spotted fantail, and the Yellow-eyed Babbler.
Enjoy my collection and post your comments below, be it cynical or appreciative, all comments are welcome. Please do not spam.

Birding in Mount Abu May 2018.

Birding in the hills of Mount Abu in May

The temperature in the Abu can be oppressive, with temperatures that can easily reach up to 35+ degrees C in May. UV sunlight at this height in Abu is a thing to reckon with. Skin burn and dehydration are common amongst tourists who do birding and trekking in the Abode of the gods. This year I only came back to Abu on the 21 of May as I was in the sweltering summer of Gujarat. I need to mention special birding events held worldwide in May 2018.
(On 5 May, Global Big Day, 28,000 people ventured outside in 170 countries, finding 6899 species: 2/3rds of the world’s bird species in one day. This is a new world record for birding and more birds seen by the Global Big Day team than any one person has ever seen in an entire year.) The part in parenthesis is taken from: Click: Global Big Day—5 May 2018.

The few birds I snapped at the latter end of May 2018.
