Bonelli's Eagle Aquila fasciata

Long-legged buzzard - Buteo rufinus

Long-legged buzzard attacking the eagle.

The first of Feb, was a feast for the birders eyes,

The morning sky, was greeted with soaring  hawks,

The Buteos were attacking the Bonelli's Eagle,

Their aerial display for supremacy was greeted with continuous clicks.

Watch my small presentation, wished it had lasted a little longer.

Mount Abu's fascinating dancer: The White-spotted fantail,
This little small daredevil, with its white spots on its breast,
Dances away and fanning the insects in its wake, its aerial sallies
Not be match for the for the tiny insects that are gobbled up in every launch that it makes.
The birder with his camera has to keep pace, to get that prized picture
Of this species, with the white brow, and slim white collar and fan like tail.

The White-spotted fantail is a residential bird of Abu. It's very commonly seen here. In the nesting period, it's one of the most fearsome daredevils I've seen. It chases any bird even the fearsome Shikra if it enters its realm.

Has a grey-brown face, reddish-orange throat in males, small dark bill, dark eye with slim pale eye-ring.
Has a black tail with white at the basset its outer tail feathers.
Rapidly flicks tail upwards, always sallies through the undergrowth, feeding on flying insects.

Grey-headed Flycatcher Culicicapa ceylonensis

28 January 2019.

Flycatchers, flycatchers have come to the Abode.
With their constant sallies from branch to branch,
Most are winter visitors from far-off lands,
Their beautiful colours of sets with their sweet tweets
Are an exceptional treat for photographers and painters.

The Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher, with its Ashy head.
The light grey throat, enhanced by its bright yellow plumage,
It's yellow-green back, with yellow in browner  wings and tail
Is a solitary hunter, feeding of aerial insects with its incessant sallies.

The Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher is not a commonly seen species here in Mount Abu. I first photographed this bird in January and then later in February 2012. Butler. E. A . an. Ornithologist (1875) not included this species
