Birding in March Mount Abu 2024.

Birdwatching Delights: Exploring the Avian Wonders of March 2024.

The awe-inspiring spectacle of spring migration enthrals both environment enthusiasts and bird lovers as the second week of March begins. During this season, the melodic sounds of returning migratory birds fill the air, bringing vivid colours to the landscape and enhancing the beauty of our surroundings.

In this season of rebirth, when every nook of nature appears to come alive, the hillsides entice with their bright green appeal. A multitude of bird riches await discovery in this stunning environment, including the elegant Common Kestrel, brilliant Black Redstart, and magnificent Eurasian Sparrowhawk. The Common Buzzard, the graceful Long-legged Buzzard, and the awe-inspiring Bonelli’s Eagle are among the soaring raptors that grace the skies, adding grandeur to the scenic view. However, as March draws near, the fleeting character of these winged wanderers becomes clear, as many go on their homeward trek, leaving behind fond memories of their brief stay.

Meanwhile, in the hustle and bustle of the breeding season, avian occupants are busy constructing their homes and caring for their young. From the widespread House Sparrows to the secretive Yellowthroat Sparrows, and from the lovely Robins to the energetic Brown Rock-chat, each species plays its place in the rich fabric of life, representing nature’s flexibility and adaptability.

While Mount Abu Sanctuary provides a haven for these flying wonders, it confronts issues in supplying appropriate nutrition for its avian and terrestrial populations. Despite its limits, it remains a refuge for people seeking peace in nature’s embrace, presenting a perspective on the delicate balance of life in the wild.

For dedicated birdwatchers like myself, each sighting is a source of pure delight, a testament to the beauty and diversity of the avian world. Armed with my trusty camera, I captured these fleeting moments, fully aware of the time and effort involved. From the exhilaration of witnessing a rare species to the tranquil satisfaction of capturing the perfect shot, each experience leaves an unforgettable impression on my psyche.

As I reflect on the last week’s activities, I urge you to join me in rediscovering the joy of birding. Look through my lens to see various colours, forms, and behaviours, each a monument to the marvels of nature. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of flying as we begin on this avian voyage together. Happy watching!
